[ The evening settles at the glass Lake House as a distant storm rumbles. Oddly poetic, Bruce thinks. There's a crispness in the air, brimming with electricity. Most likely a heavy rainstorm or a thunderstorm. He tilts his head back and looks up at the sky as he waits outside the Lake House. His hands are in his coat pocket as he waits.

It's approaching faster and faster.

Now only if he knew what it was.

'The bell cannot be unrung!'

Bruce frowns.

Something tells him deep in his bones that it is time to start bringing the team together. They've done all their research... now they just need to pull them together.

He hears the rolling wheels of a car crunching into the dirt road. Bruce half turns, standing ever still as the headlights turn into the parking area. There's always an open spot next to the Austin Martin now. Especially since Dick and Kara visit more frequently than he had expected. Bruce gives Diana a smile as she steps from the car. ]

You're early.

I'm stepping out for a bit. Got some business to take care of.

[ That's code for don’t ask, knowing that as with most things, forgiveness is better than permission. Perhaps he’s getting too comfortable here. It's been a week since the mysterious girl fell from the sky, meaning a week spent knee-deep in research, trying to grasp even a single clue. He’s mobilized the easy to reach resources but nothing's quite sticking, and truth be told, he isn't sure he has enough of a case to reach farther. However, as if she somehow knew he was around, a simple text from Kara offers a welcome respite.

He wasn't around a whole lot during Bruce's time with Kara, but the eye he's always kept on home told a familiar story. Their relationship is complicated, as with most things in the family, and he knows better than anyone that Bruce's protection is exactly that: complicated. It's care expressed in only way Bruce knows how, which sometimes comes off more akin to control.

But now, held carefully at arm's length, he can do what he thinks is right.

So he pulls out of the driveway in one of Bruce’s cars, reminded of the time he stole the Porsche at fourteen. This time, he has a good reason--the minivan he brought here just won't manage cutting the six hour drive down to four.

At two in the morning, Dick rolls to a stop outside of the Kents' farm and sticks his head out. The car's headlights are the only source of illumination in the pitch black countryside. He squints into the darkness. Where's Kara? ]


// MORNING //

[ The sun’s peeking over the horizon when they arrive at the Lake House. Wisps of fog drift over the surface of the mirror lake as Dick pulls up in the driveway. Part of him wonders when his own humanity will catch up with him and remind him that he can’t keep living his nights like days like this, expecting no consequences. For now, he’s genuinely not tired. ]

Come on. Let’s go inside. [ A corner of his mouth pulls up in a lopsided grin, betraying how excited he is to have Kara here, even if he has no idea how Bruce will react. He'll try to keep it down, but he knows there's no hiding from anyone in this house. ]


// BREAKFAST //

[ He hasn't slept. It’s six in the morning and he's desperate for coffee. He opens up the fridge to peer squinty-eyed into the brightness, wondering what Alfred has stocked for breakfast. ]

You could never be my one and only, anyway

Bruce wasn't sure if this was a good idea -- or even one of his better ideas. Still, he knew that eventually they would all meet Diana Prince. Either they'd see her at Wayne Enterprises, the lake house, or simply around in Gotham. He was certain one of them already knew she was Wonder Woman. The other two, he hoped, remained blissfully in the dark. Wanda and Jon could handle it. But, after Jason? He wanted to keep them as far and as safe from his life as the Bat as possible/

Hopefully they would just see a renown woman in art and history who restored ancient works and think she caught his eye. Although really, he probably caught her eye. Still. They'd have to work out a cover story. Admitting they were both breaking into Lex Luthor's files was probably going to be enough of a challenge as it was.

At least she'd get to meet Ghost.

Though he was also thinking of getting a way for Gotham's new District Attorney to come by. Laurel Lance was just as much of a meta-human as Diana or the other ones he was watching. But, it, would be harder to explain the appearance of the DA at the lake house. Unless he made up some crap about the two of them trying to figure out who burnt Wayne Manor down.

He already knew that anyways.

He sent out a simple message to the kids.

Saturday night 6:00PM sharp. Someone is coming by you'll want to meet.

Bruce was regretting the decision all week as the date got closer.

[ Bruce honestly isn't sure why he's even joining in all this. It isn't that he doesn't want to spend time with them. It isn't the fact that he dislikes them. It's... so normal. And normal is something that always seems to elude Bruce Wayne. He pushed Dick away, he failed to save Jason, and Alfred is constantly disappointed in him. That was even before the situation with Superman and Lex Luthor...

What the hell are you doing, Bruce?

He sighs and gets out of the car. A click and covering the car later, he is walking up to his own front door. Maybe he should start rebuilding Wayne Manor if they're always going to be over?

Bruce also figures he'll be the one that ends up cooking for everyone. Which is why he's brought things that he needs to cook. Sides, since everyone has already decided on the steak. He hangs up the coat and walks straight to the kitchen.

Hopefully he's beat them all there. ]
